Howard S. Weiss

Howard S. Weiss

Marketing Director

Howard has been involved in the trades for over 25 years. He began working for a family business learning all aspects of the trade. He has worked on the service and management sides of business giving him a broad background.

He currently serves as the Marketing Director and Federal Compliance Programs Coordinator for HVAC Excellence, dealing with Federal legislation issues such as the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006, No Child Left Behind, and other issues pertaining to the Department of Education, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy.

Howard serves a duel role as he is also Marketing Director for HVAC Excellence and its affiliates of the ESCO Group.

Howard has a B.S. degree from Western Illinois University and holds numerous credentials.

Thomas M. Tebbe

National Programs Director

Thomas has been involved in the HVACR industry for over forty years. He began his career in the industry, while in high school, working for a family business during the summer. His credentials include: Field technician, Contractor, HVACR instructor, Department head, Curriculum writer, Assistant dean, Campus Dean, and Regional Director - Louisiana Technical College System. He has taught for major equipment distributors, Louisiana State University New Orleans, utility companies, supply houses, and Delgado College. He continues to work with his brother’s contracting business in order to stay current with new innovations.

Formal Education: “Refrigeration Specialist Diploma” U.S. Air Force, HVAC Diploma Jefferson Vo-Tech in Louisiana, BS Holy Cross College in Louisiana, Masters Degree Holy Cross College in Louisiana.

Other distinctions include: The Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) apprenticeship man of the year award, Induction into the Alpha Chi National Honors Society, Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education award, former board member Louisiana Heat Pump Association, Louisiana Heat Pump Trainer, Former Mayor of Ida Louisiana. Thomas is a Certified Master HVAC Educator" (CMHE).

Director of Technical Education and Standards

Coy has been involved with vocational education for over thirty years. His experience includes: Ten years in the trades, Sixteen years of experience as Director of a Tennessee Technology Center, Ten years of experience as director of vocational-technical education for two secondary school systems (Loudon County/Lenoir City Schools Partnership), Four years as the Evening School Assistant Director at the State Area School at Chattanooga, Day instructor at Chattanooga City High School, State HVACR Chair - Tennessee Technology Centers.

Tom Meyer

Board Member

Tom Meyer is the president of Praxis Green an international sustainability consulting and training firm.

Tom began his career in the HVACR industry after serving in the U.S. military. He spent the last quarter of a century serving with industry leading organizations. He served as an ASHRAE Liaison to the US Green Building Council, and served on the Greenbuild Program Committee. He is a member of the United States Senate’s High Performance Building Council, and IAPMO Green Technical Committee. He has assisted other countries (including India, Turkey and Kuwait) in the development of high performance and sustainable building standards.

Active in ASHRAE, Tom is a voting member of many committees including: SSPC-90.2 Energy Efficient Design of Low-Rise Residential Buildings; TG-1 Exergy Analysis for Sustainable Buildings (Incoming Chair); SSPC-134 Graphic Symbols for HVACR (Chair); TC-6.5 Radiant and In-Space Convective Heating (past Chair) and Building Performance Steering Committee.

His other credentials include: former Executive Director of the Green Mechanical Council (international non-profit focused on providing education to create and maintain environmentally sound, high performance and energy efficient structural mechanical systems), president of Precision Hydronics Corporation (international design, consulting and training firm), and he is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

Tom has been a speaker for many organizations and has written many articles, training modules and textbooks including GreenSpeak, Building Water Systems and A Comparative Analysis of Building Rating Systems.

Tom holds the following credentials: CSME (Certified Subject Matter Expert), GGP (Green Globes Professional), CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional), QCxP (Qualified Commissioning Professional), ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer Chairman, ASHRAE Standard 134, Symbols Member, ASHRAE Best Practices Steering Committee, PE (Professional Engineer), Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Renee Tomlinson has two decades of experience working in the association arena of the HVACR industry, most recently with Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES). Renee experience and expertise are in the areas of project management, curriculum development, certification program management and relationship development.




Randy F. Petit, Sr.

Director of Program Development

Randy has over 30 years of experience in the HVACR industry. He began his career as a HVACR field technician and later owned his own refrigeration contracting firm. He spent twenty three years in HVACR Education with the Louisiana Technical College System as a teacher and Program Chair for Technology Programs. He was was instrumental in establishing the first successful incumbent worker HVAC training program through Louisiana workforce development and the Department of Labor.

Formal Training: Louisiana Technical College - HVACR, Louisiana State University - Vocational Technical Instructional Education, Louisiana Technical College - Degree in Applied Technology / Occupational Education. He is a Certified Master HVAC Educator. Former board member and Heat Pump Trainer for the Louisiana Heat Pump Association.

Turner has over forty years in the HVAC/R field. He began his career after serving as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He served for thirty years as the Senior HVAC/R

Formal Training: HVAC/R diploma - Tennessee Technology Center (Knoxville), Associate of Science - Roane State Community College, Bachelor of Science - University of Tennessee (with majors in Technological and Adult Education, Training and Supervision), Master of Science - University of Tennessee (with majors in Human Resource Development, Technological and Adult Education, and Training and Supervision), Graduated from The State of Tennessee’s Leadership Training Program. He is a Certified Master HVAC Educator” (CMHE).

Erik Rasmussen

Erik's experience includes: Sixteen 16 years as a service and installation specialist in Natural gas - Propane - Oil heat and Air conditioning, Contractor, HVACR Instructor at a local community college, Combustion and Carbon Monoxide safety instructor for Bacharach Institute of Technical Training, Operations Manager for the Carbon Monoxide Safety Association, and is President of ESCO Press International.

Erik is author of "Combustion Analysis & Fuel Efficiency" and Co-author of "Carbon Monoxide A Clear and Present Danger".

Erik is a Certified Subject Matter Educator (CSME).

Earl Delatte

HVACR Curriculum Specialist

Earl was an HVACR Instructor for 23 years, in the Louisiana Technical College system where also served as assistant dean. During his tenure in the system he was instrumental in implementing several programs, including Customer Service, First line Supervision, and Job Skills. Earl is a Certified Subject Matter Educator (CSME).




John Diem

John Diem

Building Science Specialist

John Diem is a certified subject matter educator in the area of residential energy conservation. He served as a state weatherization monitor for North Dakota providing field oversight, trainings and technical support; additionally he served as the North Dakota state building code manager. He owned and operated an insulation company that delivered retrofit installations for a weatherization agency and serviced new construction customers as well as developing greater applications of dense packed insulation. He specializes in bridging theory into streamlined production in the quest for better field practices. His career began in the field of building science as a crew member of a weatherization program in western Montana in the late 1990’s. He transitioned into new construction with an air sealing service and energy simulation ratings in the not for profit sector, logging hundreds of pressure tests of homes with the blower door and duct blaster on homes sealed at the rough.

Jerry is the executive director of HVAC Excellence, Chairman of the Green Mechanical Council, Chairman of the Educational Standards Corporation, Board member of the Carbon Monoxide Safety Association, Founder and Director of the ESCO Group, Executive Director of ESCO Press, Board Member of ESCO Press International of Canada.

He has a B.A., M.A. and is a Certified Master HVAC Educator” (CMHE).
