HVACR Educators and Trainers Conference Presentation
Participating in
Johnson Control’s CareerConnect Program
Most people in the
HVAC/R industry are aware of the pending shortage of skilled
HVAC professionals due to the upcoming retirements of the
Baby boomer era. In 2004, Johnson Controls began to study
how this trend would affect its service business. As a
result, Johnson Controls determined that a program for post
secondary education institutions that provided highly
regarded HVAC programs to local markets was a necessity, and
developed CareerConnect.
CareerConnect is Johnson Controls partnership program with
selected technical colleges, universities and colleges
throughout North America aimed at assisting in the
development and recruitment of the next generation of
skilled HVAC service professionals. Through this program,
our branches collaborate with select colleges to choose the
most meaningful program deliverables and develop a custom
program aimed at enhancing student curriculum, assisting in
faculty development, increasing community awareness and
building a pipeline of technical recruits.
Shannon's presentation will introduce attendees to the
CareerConnect partnership model, address how the UA and
Johnson Controls are teaming to jointly develop recruiting
strategies, highlight program successes and discuss the
strategic direction of the program in 2009.
